Happy Mother's Day!
"When my mom was growing up, she said she would NEVER marry a preacher and NEVER live on a farm. Almost 51 years ago, she married a rock n' roll musician and had me. Our family grew to four, and suddenly our lives took a dramatic turn when my dad miraculously met the Lord. Then years down the road, my parents purchased 52 acres of Sophia land that has become a Farm that is near and dear to many hearts. So, of course, the irony is that Mom did end up married to a preacher, and she lives on a farm.
NEVER say NEVER.
Mom is one of those women that will one day have a wild book written about her life and escapades. She is one of the most selfless people I've ever met. If you've been a guest at her table at home, then you know you felt like royalty. And let me tell you, my dad has brought home some characters over the past years; but it didn't matter to her. She taught me how to serve others with hospitality and a genuine heart.
She is an encourager and listener. I remember all the times (and still do) that I've sat in her kitchen just needing to just talk; she always stopped whatever she was doing and made me feel like I was the only one that mattered. She has spoken truth when needed, encouraged my heart and loved me unconditionally. She has always been a safe place to share my dreams, and she makes me feel I can accomplish anything.
The other day I watch my mom as she lovingly planted and watered her Spring flowers in the garden. I was reminded of all the times she has prepared good soil in people's hearts for seeds of hope and possibility to be planted, fertilized, watered and grown into bloom. She always gives people the proper amount of space to grow. This is my mom. What a vision of God's love."

Mother's Day Gifts
Need a special gift for your mom/grandma/wife (well, let's be honest, any woman) this month?
Check out our Market for some truly unique items for the kitchen and home. Our shelves are full to the brim of beautiful plates, cups, linens placemats, teas and serving utensils.
We are stocked with incredible body butters/scrubs from Waxing Kara. Kara’s Story shows how her passion for working with beeswax-infused art caused her to start her own hives. Soon after she began beekeeping, she started sharing her honey products with friends and family who loved them, too. That was the beginning of Waxing Kara. In almost no time, a small but committed team turned a small beekeeping operation into a full-fledged company. Their products are out of this world!
Also, maybe you've seen our lovely Apolis Market Totes. Apolis is an incredible lifestyle brand founded in 2004 by brothers Raan and Shea Parton; thier simple idea was that business can create social change. Their travels abroad immersed them in personal stories of struggle and survival and inspired them to create a business model that bridges commerce and economic development. Along with their commitment to global advocacy, they also understand the importance of sourcing and manufacturing locally. Whether it means partnering with manufacturers in Uganda, Peru, Bangladesh, or even Los Angeles, the Partons have used their model of “advocacy through industry” to empower people to determine their own future.
Purchasing one of these totes helps provide Bangladesh women jobs by connecting social advocacy to industry. Click here to learn more about the story behind our Apolis Market Tote Bags and to support the cause.
