Graduation Spotlight: Harrison

Originally Published July 6th, 2020

With graduation season upon us,

We want to highlight a very special graduate who’s been a part of our Table Family from the very beginning. As the son of Chef Deanna, Harrison has been part of life at the Table since he was eleven years old. He could often be found in the back of the kitchen reading, doing homework, and getting to know the team. Now, as a runner, he can be found taking food to customers, making our guests feel welcomed and at home, and diligently helping take care of and steward the restaurant.

Harrison has always loved to learn and his curious mind has led him to push himself academically in courses that both interested him and challenged him. This created opportunities for him to graduate from Randolph Early College High School, while simultaneously getting his Associate’s Degree and a certificate in accounting from Randolph Community College . Harrison is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is he incredibly bright and thoughtful, he’s also a natural leader, and a hard worker

One rainy afternoon we got to spend some time taking photos with Harrison and Chef Deanna. We talked with them about what it has been like for Harrison to grow up in and around The Table. These are a few of the questions we asked him:

-What’s one of your favorite memories growing up in and around The Table?

"A few of my favorite memories from The Table when I was younger, are waiting for my middle school lunches in the mornings and everyone being so kind to me and accepting of my being there. Another favorite is when it snowed and we walked from our home to The Table and handed out freshly baked bread to the people downtown.”

-What’s one thing you’ve learned from working here?

"At The Table I have learned the importance of simple kindness and community. Simply smiling, being polite, listening to the names or small requests of our guests makes them feel at home and welcomed, and makes work so much more enjoyable to me.”

-What are some of your dreams and plans for after graduation?

After graduation I plan to get a degree in Business Law and Management which will aid me in my pursuit as a Financial Advisor. I am also starting my own business, in which I intend to invest my vision and drive. My goal is to work hard to create successful ventures that enhance the communities in which they serve.

We are so proud of Harrison and look forward to seeing what the future has in store for him. If you come through our doors and are lucky enough to be greeted by him, be sure to say hello and congratulations!
